Bye Bye 2009, Welcome 2010

As you take away the old calendar
...before the golden sun sets

Before you end the year’s evening
And to start a new beginning

Before mid night bell rings with cheers & joys
As you realize new things you wish for

Before mobile networks get jammed
As we step into 2010…

Let the New Year signify a year of your belief,
A year of your value system,
A year where you excel then 2009
A year for your courage, faith and realizing your dreams

Let me wish you…
A very, very prosperous, safe, healthy New Year 2010

Maharastra diary: Will be on a short trip...

Travelling to Mumbai & Pune for my nephew's wedding...exited to meet each and every relative...after a long time

Mumbai:  What a wonderful wedding that was...cheers, fun , dancing, singing, food, festivities with all freinds and relatives.

Just returned from Nashik-Trimbakeshwar short tour, excellent weather, the winter seems to be at prime at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar whereas in Mumbai nobody has an idea what winter is.  Is this the effect of global warming or too much population?

Now, preparing to leave Maharastra and join Hyderabad to resume work as have shoot....

Oh, saw '3 Idiots'...wonderful movie...refreshing, Raju Hirani once again captures a serious issue in entertaining way.  Wonderful script work, good structure, great acting...and my favorite Kareena Kapur is as always just awesome...bhaiyya all is well!

Avatar - all hyped up!

This film is the costliest film ever!  Too much of publicity went even before its reliease.

Why would the makers release the trailor months before and some scenes for Indian film industry?
Why would they held seperate premiere for the same guys?

The idea was to create buzz.  To create publicity.

Those Hollywood people just need over seas money from Asian film industry.

Ok Avtar is not a bad film but I thought 2012 was better because for a film like 2012 all you need even before watching the film is how the world would end and the film achieves that expectations.  Where as Avtar instead of story, they went about the passions of director as to why for ten years he was busy and all that blah blah.

Watch Avatar without expectations and you will feel its just another Hollywood flick.  Dont know why our very own Ramgopal Varma is god worshiping James Cameron and giving him status of all films will be like before Avatar experience and after Avatar experience.

Psychopath test...interesting one!

Hi to all those people who love to read suspense, horror, crime et al!

I found a good psychopath test for you guys.  The thing with this test is no one that I know has really answered the question right.
Read this question, come up with an answer and then scroll down to the bottom for the result.

Remember, this is not a trick question.  It is as it reads. Only few people have got the answer right. So here is just one paragraph followed by question...
A woman, while at the funeral of her own mother, met a guy whom she did not know.  She thought this guy was amazing.  She believed him to be her dream guy so much that she fell in love with him right there, but never asked for his number and could not find him.  A few days later she killed her sister.
Question: What is her motive for killing her sister?
[Give this some thought before you answer, see answer below]

She was hoping the guy would appear at the funeral again!
If you answered this correctly, you think like a psychopath.
This was a test by a famous American Psychologist used to determine if one has the same mentality as a killer.  Many arrested serial killers took part in the test and answered the question correctly.  If you didn’t answer the question correctly, good for you!

The Socrates Triple Filter Test

In ancient Greece, Socrates was reputed to hold knowledge in high esteem.

One day an acquaintance met the great philosopher and said, "Do you know what I just heard about your friend?"

Hold on a minute," Socrates replied. "Before telling me anything, I'd like you to pass a little test. It's called the Triple Filter Test."

Triple filter?"

That's right," Socrates continued. "Before you talk to me about my friend, it might be a good idea to take a moment and filter what you're going to say. That's why I call it the triple filter test.

The first filter is TRUTH. “Have you made absolutely sure that what you are about to tell me is true?”

No," the man said, "actually I just heard about it and..."

All right," said Socrates. "So you don't really know if it's true or not. Now let's try the second filter, the filter of GOODNESS. “Is what you are about to tell me about my friend something good?”

No, on the contrary..."

So," Socrates continued, "you want to tell me something bad about him, but you're not certain it's true. You may still pass the test though, because there's one filter left: the filter of USEFULNESS. “Is what you want to tell me about my friend going to be useful to me?”

“No… not really…”

“Well,” concluded Socrates, "If what you want to tell me is neither true nor good nor even useful, why tell it to me at all?"

Friends, use this triple filter each time you hear loose talk about any of your near & dear friends.

Thank god Progeria is extremely rare disease

If ‘Paa’ would not have been made, majority of Indians would never know what Progeria is.  I think there are about 4-5 cases of this disease in India too.

Just returned watching R.Balki’s ‘Paa’.  Such a heart touching story by Balki and well enacted by Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek, Vidhya and everyone else.

Thank god Progeria (Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria syndrome) is extremely rare genetic, but fatal condition.

This was first reported way back in 1886 and presently there are about 40 known cases in the world.  Overall there are 100 cases formally identified in its history.

The child ages 5-6 times the normal age, however the mental condition of the child does not affect, since the nature of this disease is extremely rare, there is no known cure as of now.

Yesterday, in India TV they showed two children challenged by Progeria.  Absolutely normal children who are big fans of Amitabh Bachchan. Everything about them is normal except their age.  After watching ‘Paa’ while returning, I was thinking what happens to the parents of children who are challenged by this fatal disease?

In this movie the father is a rich, intelligent, powerful and wise politician by choice and mother is a gynecologist. Both are rich persons.  And there is ‘Auro’ a very smart kid, a good repartee and quite mature too.  But in real life I wonder about those 40 odd cases... how the parents are coping with the condition?

In this film the director has shown that school authorities keep Auro identity a secret from outside world, and when he is known, a restrain order is taken from court not to give publicity and safeguard the privacy of Auro.  Well that is really good as it is a film and it has to have its own structure to tell a story.

But I wonder...  in real cases how the parents cope?  This wonderful film leaves you with many questions…

Can World Health Organization give complete and free treatement to children who are challenged by progeria?

Can UN, UNICEF, the respective governments provide financial support and privacy to children and parents?

Go watch ‘Paa’ for its sheer entertainment value, it does not preach and has its moments, great music and as far as the lead child actor Auro is concerned…at the end of film you will not remember Progeria as much as you like Auro...Auro enacted by Amitabh Bachchan with no baritone, no height, nothing as you have seen before.
